The Vancouver Artist’s Collective Association is a network of talented local photographers, writers, artists, dancers, musicians, graphic designers, etc… Created in June 2006, VACA exists as a link between artists in the community, providing networking and contact information for artists of all mediums. Our aim is to establish a close relationship with other local artistic groups in order to unify Vancouver’s artistic talent and make that talent accessible both to other artists and to the community at large. VACA encourages the development of its members, both creatively and professionally, and provides opportunities for mentorship between established members and burgeoning talent. We also aim to showcase our members’ work, and have created committees devoted to finding venues for our performances and exhibitions. VACA runs gigs most Sundays at The Backstage Lounge featuring local musicians, and is actively seeking additional venues for our performers throughout the city and surrounding areas. When Local Band Knight first started, I asked NMW if they knew any bands that would like to be apart of the show. So threw them we meet Operation Makeout, Shocore and some other bands. Recently the two collaborated in shaping Canadian band Default. Default’s first single “Wasting My Time” has hit the top five on numerous rock charts and the album itself, The Fallout, quickly reached gold status in the U.S. and Canada. Kroeger produced and co-wrote some of the songs on the album. When the road beckoned Nickelback, Simkin took over to shop the band, help the band develop its live show, and handled the band’s business matters. The band’s signing to TVT and subsequent success prompted the duo to earnestly consider starting a label. This team is undeniably on to something.
The first signing to 604 RECORDS is Theory of a Deadman. In a scene that is preoccupied with creating a specific sound, Theory’s frontman Tyler Connelly has a unique gift for sculpting poetic lyricism and relaying stories in the band’s songs. Simkin and Kroeger were drawn to Theory of a Deadman’s live presence; it’s rare these days that a band can generate an album where every song is appealing and for that band to effectively execute such songs on stage. With Kroeger and Simkin’s vision, and Roadrunner’s passion for the act, success should follow.

Garage Entertainment
Garage Entertainment is a community of musicians and music lovers that have banded together to provide quality, affordable entertainment for independent music lovers in Vancouver. We manage and care for the careers of our artists and establish them on main stages in venues across the lower mainland.
We have taken a band from literally being a garage band to playing some of the best venues in town in key shows. Our launch party for instance, featured Art of Dying one month after they finished playing in Florida with Staind. On that bill were two relatively unknown bands "Like a Storm" and "Solidus" who saw a terrific crowd and received a very good response.
We don't really look for bands, they find us. We are looking for people who are interested in promoting live music in Vancouver and also having fun while doing so.

I graduated at the age of 16 with high hopes and dreams for my future.....I worked many pointless dead end jobs like most of us out there. I knew what I wanted to do, but at that point in my life didnt know how to reach it. I used to live in Calgary, AB and became very lucky and got a chance to work for a local radio station out there called CJ92. I did mostly promotions and marketing for them, but i got to meet alot of great bands and alot of great people in different venues around the city. By the age of 19, I joined a coverband and sang with them for a few months......as much as I loved singing this wasnt what i wanted to do either, so i persued going about a different path and decided that I wanted to work with amazingly talented individuals trying to get noticed in a very big pond. I was fortunate to meet some amazing people and see some amazing shows. But it was one in particular show at the Voodoo Lounge in Campbell River, BC that did it for me. Todd Kerns and the squad played, this place had maybe 50 people in it and the crowd was honestly terrible, but it didnt matter.....the amount of enthuiasm and professionalism that those guys showed was out of this world, I was completely addicted to the scene. As I was sitting at home one night this music video came on tv called Fall To Pieces by Velvet Relvolver.....as i watched this video (which is an extremely powerful video) and listened to the truth behind the words of the song and realized that sometimes you have to loose everything to figure out what you truly had!!! I had experienced that kind of loss in my life and knew that this was something i was supposed to do. By the age of 20 i had worked with various artists and had alot of positive and amazing things going on......I was booking tours, doing promotions, tons of marketing, updating websites and managing, and realized that as much as i loved the industry, that alot of people were doing things for alot of the wrong reasons and it started to to weigh on my beliefs. Recently someone who i was close to and who is in a fantastic band, almost pushed me over the edge .... actually so close over that edge that i almost said " I've Had It.....Im Not Doing This Anymore!!" I went and seen someone who is extremely close to me and my heart. He put things back into perspective and made me realize that i just have re-analize what i want to achieve and whom it is that i want and choose to work with. So this is what i am doing.......after over a year I decided that i am going to go from having a numbered company and contracting my work out to having an actual company name and work on a new outlook. 11:11 Inc. is my companies name.....those who know me well understand the importance behind 11:11 and those who get to know me will find out. There will be a web page set up in the near future, but for now i will maintain this Myspace one. I am looking for REAL people......no fakes.....no one just out looking to make money and become famous. I am looking for genuine people who actually are in the industry because they really love music and really just want people to listen to what they are about and things they have seen, gone, done or been threw in their lives. Die Hard artists that put everything into something they believe so strongly in. I want to meet people that are in this for the right reasons and if they become famous and make millions along the way then great because they deserve every minute and penny. I want to do this because I know there are so many unbelievable artists out there that struggle to have one person hear them, let alone come up with the money to have a studio record them or the money to tour. I dont want talent wasted and hopes crushed before they even get started, I know i cant help everyone but i am willing try my hardest to help who i can. I am fortunate to have a huge support group behind me ranging from great artists, great contacts, radio stations, clothing companies etc etc.....I have what i need to have in place with one exception I Need Great Artists To Work With...that are serious and take what I said seriously. Do not waste my time if your not genuine and serious about your music.....on the other hand if you think you are what im looking for then message me and we will go from there. I have been a volunteer with The Presentation house theatre for almost 3 years. Even though I have been other theatres for years, The Presentation House would always give me tickets to giveaway on our show and would help me advertise the show with them. So that always meant a lot to us and so I try to volunteer as much as I can there. This past year, I was given the opportunity to be a stage hand and costume assistant for the play, Life Skills. It was so much fun and I loved everyone minute of it. Not only is it that I am a volunteer there, but there always willing to help our show, they really show us what “Family” is about. I (Carmen Ursel) am the President & CEO of the company, I
oversee and create the basic foundation for all our clients

myself at different shows & festivals and has seen the
backstage aspect for all it's glory.
Ryan takes the time to travel around to different venues
visiting past/present/future clients. His continuity of care is

Ryan also scouts new talent for our showcases, festivals,
and whatever else we set our sights on, and or hired on for.

Off-Centre Television is a 1/2 hour guerilla comedy variety show that airs Saturday nights at 11PM on KVOS Television. Produced in Vancouver, BC, we're currently off the air for the summer but will relaunch with Season Two on October 7, 2006. We feature independent bands and celebrity interviews each episode as well as some of the best comedy this coast has to offer!
OCTV found us threw some of there actors who suggested that they should be in part of our family. It's great cause we are both on the same page in wanting to help out local actors and musicans as well they can send us some laughs along the way.

I am an avid dreamer living daily in an effort to make real life closer to those ideals of my dreams. I pay close attention to the process of living and am deeply fascinated by people. By trade I am primarily a writer at heart with a talent for radio. These days I am growing more and more into a dedicated spiritual investigator, learning about spirituality in order to become a deeply peaceful and powerful being. I am really curious about everything and I have found Tibetan Buddhism and the radio program New Dimensions www.newdimensions.org to presently be my best gateways to deep learning.
I’m very concerned about and interested in the natural world and politics and I love to promote the works of awakened peoples’, inspired peoples’ and folk musicians. My daily life these days is mostly concerned with my CJSF 90.1 FM folk music radio show ‘Melodies in Mind’ Tuesdays 8 to 10 pm www.myspace.com/melodiesinmind, and a cross Canada bicycle journey I’m developing for 2009, ‘Sustainable Community Caravan’. My life seems to be about building community. That’s what I care about, because it is with community that we can finally turn around the deep darkness of our spiritual times. I encourage you to not read your newspapers, but to meet your neighbors and see what the headlines of their lives are. I reckon you’ll find the two to be quite different.
